The Clean Growth Strategy outlines policies and proposals aiming to accelerate “Clean Growth” by decreasing emissions whilst increasing economic growth. The 2 guiding objectives include:

  • Meeting our domestic commitments at the lowest possible net cost to UK taxpayers, consumers and business
  • Maximising the social and economic benefits for the UK from this transition.

In summary, the main focus of the Clean Growth Strategy is directed into 6 main areas which together are responsible for 100% of the UK’s carbon emissions:

  • Improving business and industry efficiency; currently at 25% of UK emissions, cut to at least 20% by 2030.
  • Improving our homes; 13% of UK emissions.
  • Accelerating the shirt to low carbon transport; 24% of UK emissions.
  • Delivering Clean, Smart, Flexible Power; 21% of UK emissions.
  • Enhancing the benefits and value of our natural resources; 15% of UK emissions.
  • Leading in the public sector; 2% of UK emissions.
